Partit Nazzjonalista (PN) Member of Parliament Jason Azzopardi has requested a meeting so that the Parliamentary Environment Committee is informed about when the newly revised policy regarding fuel stations will start taking place.
On a Facebook post, Azzopardi told the Committee Chairperson to call for a meeting. He added that the last meeting to take place regarding the revised Fuel Stations Policy was on the 25th of April 2018.
Azzopardi explained that the Planning Authority (PA) published the proposed revised policy at the end of April 2019. He added that public submissions closed on 14th June 2019.
It was also mentioned that there are currently applications regarding fuel stations in front of the PA. Azzopardi mentioned that with the original 2015 fuel station policy, there is nothing stopping this application from taking place.
The Member of Parliament also requested that civil societies would be asked to attend and participate in this discussion.
Moviment Graffiti had asked the PA to pause all applications for fuel stations till the new revised policy is put in place.
