The Minister for Infrastructure Ian Borg said that he is informed that there are around 520 construction sites where architects are applying new regulations issued by the government.
At a news conference at the Planning Authority, the Minister mentioned that there are more than 60 reports that already have been updated since new regulations were issued. He also said that in around 520 construction sites, the architects are applying these new regulations. That is the reason why the works continued as there is no danger, Minister Borg claimed.
During the conference, there was a visual presentation on how certain regulations can be improved. The Minister said that the government thinks that it will be more efficient that architects will have a clear guide in case of exemptions as some have found it difficult.
The Minister continued by mentioning that architects can obtain exemptions in specific cases even if the project has reached an advanced stage. These decisions will be taken by the Office of the Building Supervisor (BRO).
