Pope Francis will make his next Apostolic Journey from 4 to 10 September visiting the countries of Mozambique, Madagascar and Mauritius. The Vatican Press Office released an updated version of the Pope’s visit programme.
Wednesday 4 September
08:00 Pope Francis departs by air from Rome-Fiumicino Airport for Maputo. After a flight of more than ten hours he will have an official welcome at the airport and then retires to prepare for the next morning.
Thursday 5 September
09.45 In Maputo, the capital of Mozambique the Pope will pay a courtesy visit on the President in his Ponta Vermelha Palace which will be followed by a meeting the local authorities, civil society and the diplomatic corps. The meeting will be held at the same presidential palace and the Pope is expected to address the gathering.
11:00 The Pope will preside an Interreligious Meeting with young people in the Pavillion Maxaquene and afterwards will lunch at the Apostolic Nunciature.
16:15 Meeting with the Bishops, priests, men and women religious, consecrated persons, seminarians, catechists and animators which will take place in the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. The Holy Father will address the assembly.
Friday 6 September
08:45 The day starts with a visit to Zimpeto Hospital followed by mass with the Pope’s homily at the Stadium of Zimpeto.
12:25 A Farewell Ceremony is held at Maputo Airport before the Pontiff departs for Antananarivo where he will arrive four hours later.

Saturday 7 September
09:30 Pope Francis will pay a courtesy call on the President of Madagascar at the “Iavoloha” Presidential Palace.
10:15 The Pope meets and address the local authorities, civil society and the diplomatic corps accredited to the country. The meeting will take place in the Ceremony Building.
11:15 Midday Prayer in the Monastery of the Discalced Carmelites where the Pontiff will deliver a homily. Lunch at the Apostolic Nunciature
16:00 The Pope will meet and speak to the Bishops of Madagascar in the Cathedral of Andohalo.
17:10 Visit the tomb of Blessed Victoire Rasoamanarivo
18:00 Pope Francis will participate in a Vigil with young people in the diocese of Soamandrakizay. This will be the last event of the day.
Sunday 8 September
10:00 Pope Francis will celebrate Holy Mass in the Soamandrakizay diocesan field and later have lunch with his entourage in the Apostolic Nunciature
15:10 Visit to the Akamasoa City of Friendship followed by prayers for the workers in the Mahatzana worksite.
17:10 Pope Francis will hold a meeting with priests, men and women religious, consecrated persons and seminarians in the St. Michael College.
Monday 9 September
07:30 An early departure by air for Port Louis, in Mauritius where he will arrive after three hours and is given a welcome ceremony at the airport.
12:15 Holy Mass wit homily at the Monument to Mary Queen of Peace.
16:25 The Pope will pay a private visit to the Shrine of Pere Laval.
16:55 The Pontiff will pay a courtesy visit to the Presidnet of Mauritius at his palace followed by a meeting with the Prime Minister.
17:40 The last appointment of the Pontiff will be a meeting with the authorities, civil society and the diplomatic corps.
18:45 The Pope will leave Mauritius after a farewell ceremony at Port Louis Airport from where he will leave for Antananarivo airport
Tuesday 10 September
09:00 The Pope will depart from Antananarivo Airport for Rome where he will arrive at 19.00 hours and return to the Vatican.
