At about 5.00pm, a fire broke out in Pembroke. Smoke had been seen coming up from behind the soldiers’ barracks in the locality.
A Civil Protection Department spokesperson told Newsbook.com.mt that fire engines were on their way to tame the fire. Three hours later, a spokesperson stated that they are still on site controlling the fire.
A person on site told Newsbook.com.mt that it is likely that the fields in the locality caught fire; and stated that it is a normal occurrence. This was confirmed by a spokesperson for the Civil Protection.
