Young man threatens father; freed from arrest

A young man from Kalkara was accused of threatening his father and harassing him in a family argument.

The 22-year-old was taken to court this morning, after harassing his father by calling him and threatening him with violence.

He was also accused of trying to attack his father when he followed him to Bormla’s police station. The father went to the police station to report his son, but while they were there, an argument broke out between the two. The argument that broke out could have easily led to violence had the police not intervened.

In the confrontation, a police officer’s uniform was damaged.

Because of this confrontation, the young man was also accused of shouting, fighting and obscene language, as well as of not abiding by police orders.

The young man pleaded not guilty and was freed from arrest on a personal guarantee of €5000.
