“You are called to serve” – Archbishop Scicluna

Tista' taqra bil- Malti.

Archbishop Charles Scicluna, during the Ordination to the Diaconate, asked the four new deacons to be servants to all, as Christ was.

During the Ordination, held this morning at the Żejtun Parish Church, during which four young men, three seminarians and a Capuchin friar were ordained, the Archbishop in his homily said: “The diaconate is not simply a step towards the priesthood, but a way of life that resembles that of Christ, who washed the disciples’ feet.”

In the presence of close family and friends, Rev Roderick Baldacchino, Rev Joshua Cortis, Rev Jean Claude Schembri and Rev Mark Scicluna, are now being called to follow Christ’s footsteps and be servants to all, where ever they may be.

In referring to the First Reading chosen for the occasion, the Archbishop told the new deacons “Do not say I am young, I am weak, even if the circurmstances you face make you feel small.”
