YMCA Malta organised a week-long youth exchange to learn about, and practice, sustainable living. 18 volounteers from France, Germany and Malta participated in the cleaning up of Xrobb l-Għaġin bay in Marsaxlokk.
According to YMCA, the main goal of these workshops was to allow youths to participate in a more hands-on experience on healthy and sustainable food processes, from the sourcing of material, to recipe creation, to transforming the end product to be sold.
Another highlight of the week was creativity through sustainability, with the theme ‘Personification of Waste through Dance’. Performance artist Ivanna Haag guided the participants to arrive at personification of waste through dance.
The waste collected from the sea and surrounding area of Xrobb l-Għaġin was also utilised to form creative works of art.
