A woman is suffering from grievous injuries after being stabbed with a knife during an argument with a man yesterday in St Paul’s Bay.

The argument took place at around 5.30pm in Triq il-Korp tal-Pijunieri, between a 38-year-old woman living in Birkirkara and a 38-year-old Libyan man residing in St Paul’s Bay.

The woman managed to get the attention of officers patrolling the area. A spokesperson for the Police informed Newsbook.com.mt that the man assaulted her with a sharp and pointed object, and fled the scene shortly after. He was later arrested and is being held in the Police lock-up.

The woman was taken to Mater Dei Hospital by ambulance where she was found to be suffering from grievous injuries.

Magistrate Doreen Clarke opened an inquiry into the case.
