A woman who had allegedly assaulted a police officer who was guarding the San Gwann BOV branch has been released from arrest after pleading not guilty in front of the Court on Wednesday.
The 38-year-old Xgħajra resident pleaded not guilty to the accusations which included assault and threat to a police officer, disobeying of legitimate orders, being a threat to the general public and of breaching public peace. She was also accused of breaching her three-year probation period.
The accused was identified after security footage of the day of the alleged assault was analysed.
The defence lawyer told Magistrate Rachel Montebello that the woman was “provoked”.
The Court released her against a personal guarantee amounting to €5,000. A protection order was also issued to safeguard the police officer involved.
