Police have arrested a Dutch national, following this morning murder in Santa Venera.
Unconfirmed reports say that the victim is Shannon Mak (pictured) who has lived in Malta for many months. Her Facebook profile indicates that she lives in Imsida. The woman’s age also varies with these reports with some say that the woman was 22 years old while others say the woman is 30 years old.
According to several media reports, the arrested man was the victim’s boyfriend and Mak had just ended her relationship with the alleged aggressor. However they had both attended an event last night and ended it with an argument. Reports say that the man admitted to the Police that he had slit her throat and he is expected to be taken to court tomorrow.
The lifeless body of the woman was found in a pool of blood at around 6.15am in Mastrudaxxi Street between two parked cars. Forensic experts were called and video footage from various CCTV cameras was extracted.
It is not yet known if the victim was killed there or was transported to the site after being killed somewhere else. Several reports indicate that the woman could be seen in Qawra earlier that night.
Moreover, residents did not report seeing or hearing any commotion in the area. The victim is now known to have worked with a gaming company as indicated by the bracelet around her wrist.
This is the fourth murder victim in less than a month. On the 24th of July, a man killed his mother and aunt in Għargħur. On the 6th of July, businessman Hugo Chetcuti was knife-attacked in Paceville and died in hospital a few days later.
