Partit Demokratiku has called for an urgent press conference by the Police Commissioner. In a statement, the Orange Party noted that Malta’s ‘top cop’ failed to brief the public on the ongoing investigations into the assassination of journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia.
The PD added that such behaviour betrays the work by the investigative teams in bringing criminals to justice.
In its statement, PD highlighted that Police Commissioner Lawrence Cutajar needs to keep the press and the country abreast of the latest developments, to the extent legally permitted. The party added, that he also needs to confirm that all levels of the force are doing their job without fear or favour.
“Malta cannot risk that the investigations are bungled or perceived to be bungled. The consequences of any potential growing mistrust in the Police by the public will be grave and regretful,” PD stressed.
PD thanked the investigative team for their hard work.
