What’s the future of 13th December Street?

In the coming days, preparatory work will begin to improve December 13 Street. The aim of this project is to eliminate various accident blackspots, and one will have the possibility to travel along these roads at the same time.

This 2.5 million Euro project will link the Saint Lucia roundabout and Marsa Junction with the Marsa-Ħamrun Bypass project.

The project includes the redesign of the ring of Aldo Moro Street Roundabout in the area of Marsa Cross and the widening of parts of 13th December Bypass.

Apart from this, new public car parks in the area of Marsa Cross will be developed. The Minister stated that 65 eucalyptus tree which are currently in 13th December Street will be uprooted. 113 new trees, native to different areas along the project route, will take their place.

This project will begin in the coming days, in order to be completed before the start of the next scholastic year. Several contractors will be carrying out various tasks in different parts of the same route, at the same time.

Residents and those who make use of these roads are encouraged to follow the directions indicated by road signs and officials of the Transport Authority.

Minister of Transport Ian Borg, said that this project will address the last remaining bottlenecks in the link between Tarxien, Paola, Marsa, Santa Venera and Imriehel.
