Minister for Home Affairs and National Security Michael Farrugia said that in the past 6 weeks, searches conducted within Kordin have uncovered a number of weapons made by prisoners over the years.
He said that the searches were conducted in a number of divisions and common areas at the Kordin Correctional Facility. He went on to say that such weapons could cause grievous injuries and that the searches will go on.
He also said that a number of body scanners, as well as the cameras, will be upgraded.
There will also be a change in the prison food. The prisoners will be given the opportunity to learn how to cook and upon release, they will be given certificates so as to help them find employment.
