Watch: “When I was a teen, dictionaries were my favourite books!”

For this week’s programme in‘s book-related series Between the Lines, Coryse Borg interviews the lovely, bubbly Florina Silvio who speaks to her about her children’s book The Pin and the Tin.

Originally from Pakistan, but living in Malta for the past 15 years or so, Florina started writing in English to help her son Zack learn to read when he was younger. Since Zack was learning phonetically at the time, she decided to make her books easy to read, with rhyming words. Hence, The Pin and the Tin was born.

The protagonist of the book is her fluffy Persian cat Diego whom she rescued from her roof a few years ago. However, in the book, his name is ‘Finn’ (to rhyme with ‘tin’ and pin’).

The Pin and the Tin is published by Faraxa Publishing. More information may be obtained from Faraxa’s website or Facebook page.
