Watch: “When children meet authors, they realise reading isn’t boring”

Dave Rudden is one of the special guests at the Malta Book Festival 2019 currently taking place at the MCC in Valletta.

Author of the award-winning Knights of the Borrowed Dark trilogy, Dave Rudden is one of the special guests at the Malta Book Festival 2019 currently taking place at the Mediterranean Conference Centre in Valletta.

In an exclusive interview with Newsbook.com.mt, Rudden explains that he devotes a lot of his time (over 500 events so far) to children’s events.

“It’s my favourite part of the job,” he says, “I think that there is nothing better for a kid to make them like reading, than to actually seeing an author live. It shows that books aren’t these dull and stodgy things; they are written by real-life people. And you can learn about how to write a book yourself as well!”

A former actor and teacher, Rudden has also just published an anthology of 12 stories of the villains from Doctor Who for kids under the title Doctor Who: Twelve Angels Weeping.

At the book festival, he will be interviewed by librarian and book lover Robert Pisani about his works on Thursday 7th November where audiences will have the opportunity to ask questions and get their books signed. As a treat to schoolchildren visiting the festival, Rudden will also give a special performance on Friday 8th November in the morning.
