Ħamrun residents residing in Triq Santu Wistin experienced what they described as a nightmare early Friday morning when two cars – a BMW and an Alfa Romeo – parked in their road caught fire.
The residents, who spoke to Newsbook.com.mt, said that commotion in the street and the explosion of a car windscreen woke them up in shock at 3.30am.
Some residents fled with their luggage, fearing that their residence would catch fire too.
Although an ambulance was called on site, a police spokesperson told Newsbook.com.mt that no one was injured in the accident. The spokesperson also confirmed that the police are investigating the incident.
The fires were put out by members of Civil Protection.
