I was lucky enough to have been one of the very first people to get an sneak peek at their gorgeously renovated Athenaeum Spa at the Corinthia Palace Hotel in Balzan, followed by a multi-course meal at the stunning Villa Corinthia restaurant.
The four-million-euro spa project has seen the facility, originally opened in 1989, completely refurbished and launched bringing world renown luxury skincare product house ESPA to Malta.
The spa includes a thermal Vitality Suite and pool, a sauna and steam room, nail salon, seven exquisite treatment rooms, relaxation lounge and terrace, and an indoor swimming pool with a jacuzzi and large outdoor pool. Of course, there is also a wide range of wellness experiences and treatments offered by its in-house experts.
Booking for all facilities is currently limited due to Covid-19 restrictions, making it a very safe experience for all. You can also book the Vitality Suite for you and a group of friends.
After my exclusive show-around by the lovely Director of Sales Denise Cardona, as an added bonus, I also got to experience some of the most exquisite food I have ever experienced. Villa Corinthia Chef Stefan Hogan certainly did himself proud with delicious offerings such as pickled and salted baked beetroot, nettle risotto with bee pollen, Mediterranean prawns and wild asparagus, wild sea bass and – the pièce de resistance – the dessert which included the most amazing melt-in-your-mouth meringues.
Perfect service as always… and social distancing, sanitising and safety done right too, with guests being placed in their own little ‘bubbles’. I was particularly impressed with the warm spelt sourdough bread placed in individual boxes and a mini bottle of sanitiser for each person. Corinthia Palace Hotel General Manager Adrian Attard was the perfect host.
All in all, it was close to a perfect evening, which made me feel ‘normal’ for just a few hours and did wonders for my frame of mind. I truly went home with a big smile. In conclusion, I know where I am going to be pampering myself for my birthday later this month – can’t wait!
