PN MEP candidate Dione Borg said that there are a number of reasons why Nationalists have abstained from voting.
In comments given to Newsbook.com.mt, Borg said that many factors contributed to Partit Laburista’s win mentioning the difference in the campaigns adopted by the two major parties. According to Borg, PN focused on the problems while PL had a campaign which was closer to the people, commenting that this was more effective.
Borg believes that various factors led to a lower turnout among Nationalist supporters claiming that in some localities thousands have abstained from voting. Commenting further, Borg said that Partit Nazzjonalista needs to reflect and work on the results obtained, saying that the road ahead is long and that one should not give up.
When asked to react to the current projections which are showing that Borg will not be elected to the European Parliament, he told Newsbook.com.mt that it has been a memorable experience. Further Borg said that the election campaign gave him a platform to campaign on issues that he believes in without having anything holding him back.
