The University Students’ Council (KSU) and the Malta’s Medical Students Association (MMSA) said that they are still waiting for a reply from Health Minister Chris Fearne regarding their concerns over resources allocation at Mater Dei Hospital.
During a press conference held at the the University’s Common Room, representatives from the organisation said that the Health Ministry has not honoured its assurances that students at Barts medical school will be allocated resources at Mater Dei without compromising the education of students from the University of Malta. The students were meant to receive a reply within two weeks.
MMSA President Omar Chircop said that ahead of the press conference he was personally approached by the health minister through a phone call. He insisted that the points raised during the meeting in April still hold.
‘While investment in medical education is welcomed, this should not be done at the detriment of the students at the University of Malta,’ President KSU William Farrugia.
