The Prime Minister Joseph Muscat said that all negotiations with Steward Health Care are “concluded and ready”.
The Prime Minister was answering questions by Newsbook.com.mt to establish progress in negotiations with the company who is taking care of the administration of St Luke’s Hospital, Karin Grech, and Gozo General Hospital.
A spokesperson for the Health Ministry had confirmed with this newsroom that a number of meeting were held to maximise Steward Health Care’s potential with their partnership agreement. Health Minister Chris Fearne however did not confirm what exactly was being negotiated.
The Prime Minister also said that the new hospital in Gozo and the medical school are “on the way” when answering questions about the electoral promise. He was answering journalists while inaugurating the Anatomy Centre as part of the Barts Campus in Gozo.
Right now, Muscat said that there are 59 students in their first and second year of studies at Barts, most of them coming from the EU, the majority of which from the UK but there are also 14 other nationalities.
During the opening ceremony, the Prime Minister was accompanied by Chris Fearne, Economy Minister Chris Cardona, and Gozo Minister Justyne Caruana.
