Large rocks have collapsed in Xatt l-Aħmar Bay due to the bad weather. Part of the beach has now been closed off.
According to a Facebook post uploaded by the Għajnsielem Mayor, Kevin Cauchi, the rocks collapsed in an area known as ‘Tal-Ingliżi’, near the iron staircase used to access the beach. He stated that the situation is in hand, and stressed that one must avoid the area in order to avoid danger.
He thanked Councillors Larry Buttigieg and Frankie Saliba who immediately went to close off the area.
Yesterday’s storm caused the Gozo ferry to halt its services, as well as damaged the water main supplying water from Malta to Gozo.
