Watch: “Reading and imagination are superpowers”

Author Elizabeth Guyon Spennato explains how writing helped her to get over an accident which left her with a brain injury.

During this week’s programme in Newsbook.com.mt‘s book-related series Between the Lines, Coryse Borg speaks to Elizabeth Guyon Spennato about her lovely children’s book The Dream Life of Little Paul.

How do you lead an exciting life when you are often sick and cannot always go to school to meet your friends? Little Paul knows that there are no limits to the places he can visit and the adventures he can have thanks to the books he reads and his vivid imagination. Little Paul’s dreams keep him safe, but how does he face the challenges he encounters when he leaves the safety of his home? Will he ever manage to make friends with the lovely Audrey Marie?

Guyon Spennato says that there are a lot of parellels between her and Little Paul, especially as she to was a sickly child. She also explains how writing helped her to get over an accident in her adulthood which left her with a brain injury.

The book is published by Faraxa Publishing. More information may be obtained from www.faraxabooks.com or Faraxa’s Facebook page. The illustrations are by Benyamin Shajari.
