The Police have confirmed that at around 2.30pm, a 50 year old man from England died at Ramla Bay. He and 51 year old man also from England were pulled ashore and given first aid by bystanders on the beach.

ERRC stated that its water rescue personnel were the first responders on site. They administrated CPR compressions on the 50 year old man, however, this was to no avail.

The 51 year old was transferred to Gozo General Hospital where it is understood that he was given oxygen treatment. The condition of the man is still unknown.

According to sources on-site, the bay’s lifeguards had already raised a double red flag, indicating danger and that no one was supposed to be swimming in the area.

Information gathered on site seems to indicate that the man lost his life as he was not a strong swimmer.

Magistrate Bridgette Sultana appointed an inquiry as well as several experts to assist in the case. Police investigations are still ongoing
