Watch: Maltese climbers taking on Kilimanjaro challenge for charity

Nearly a dozen people have left for Kenya to participate in the 12th edition of the Kilimanjaro Challenge, KC12.

The team has been training since March and will spend 8 days climbing the mountain.

The charitable challenge has been running for the past 11 years and has so far raised over €720,000 to support ten community projects in Kenya and Ethiopia. The efforts are organised by the ‘Missionary Movement Jesus in Thy Neighbour’, founded by the late Fr George Grima.

This year’s target is to raise €90,000 to support the €1.2 million funding of a Centre for Disabled Children in Bonga, Ethiopia. The KC12 team raised much of this year’s funds throughout the year, prior to the trip.

Following the walk in Tanzania, the team is set to head to Ethiopia to inaugurate the project.
