Watch: Malta – ‘the Nurse of the Mediterranean’

Today is Armistice Day, which is commemorated every year on the 11th November to mark the armistice signed between the Allies of World War I and Germany in France, for the cessation of hostilities on the Western Front of World War I. This took effect at eleven o’clock in the morning — the “eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month” of 1918.

A formal peace agreement was reached the following year when the Treaty of Versailles was signed.

To commemorate the 100th anniversary of Armistice Day, is running a three-part interview with Newsbook Editor-in-Chief Sylvana Debono about the various ramifications – local and international – of this war which changed the world.

The interview, which is in Maltese, was originally broadcast on RTK 103.3FM.
