Manchester United Class of ’92 football superstars Gary Neville and Ryan Giggs have joined Maltatogether.com and the health authorities to call on the Maltese public to stay at home during these very delicate times in an effort to control the spread of COVID-19.

Gary Neville who is a regular visitor to the island said that what will get us through these challenging times for Malta and the world is the strength of the people. He also thanks the Maltese for their hospitality and generosity and how this has made him and his family feel at home. He adds that Malta will be the first place he will visit once this pandemic is over.

“I have been coming over to Malta for the past 27 years, from the age of 18 when i first came to this country with David Beckham, Chris Casper and Ben Thornley… I’ve been back every single year since… for one reason and one reason only – and that’s you, the Maltese people,” he said.

While sending his best wishes during these very difficult times, Ryan Giggs says that Malta holds a special place in his heart as he has many friends, given that he has been visiting Malta on a regular basis since 1992. He said that he wants to send a special message not just to his friends, but to all the Maltese to stay home and stay safe to protect the medical staff.

Giggs adds that these are challenging times but if we do the right thing and stay home we will come out of this sooner rather than later.
