Watch: Making a splash with a panto ‘under the sea’

Always wondered what goes on behind the scenes at a panto? Well, Newsbook.com.mt was given exclusive access to the backstage area of this years panto at the Manoel Theatre.

Discover exactly what goes into the making of this much-loved annual family extravaganza, all brought to life by a stellar cast led by Edward Mercieca as the Crustacean Dame and Katherine Brown as the evil cephalopod, Ursoola Minnofs.

Other household names will be joining them, including Chiara Hyzler as Doreen, Nikki Cassar as Ariel, Tezara Saliba as Prince Rubinu, Karen Decelis as Fairy LE, Antonella Mifsud and Maria Cassar as the witch’s Eel sidekicks, Brendan Thearle as Captain Barbuljatu, Joe Depasquale as King Triton and Adriel Camilleri as Bosun Cikku Flieles, as well as a chorus of sea creatures, zombie pirates, sailors and various flotsam and jetsam.

This impressive cast will be directed by Chris Gatt, with musical direction by Kris Spiteri, choreography by Luisa Fenech Conti and vocal coaching by Analise Cassar.

FM Theatre’s The Little Mermaid – A Panto Under The Sea will be staged at the Teatru Manoel, Valletta, with performances on the 26th, 27th, 28th, 29th, 30th December 2019 and the 2nd, 3nd, 4th January 2020 at 8.00 pm. There will also be matinee performances at 3.00 pm on the 22nd, 26th, 27th, 28th, 29th, 30th December 2019, and on the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th January 2020.
