Watch: Lightning strikes in Gozo; over 200 reported across Malta in last 24hrs

Around 200 lightning strikes hit the Maltese Islands and the sea over the past 24 hours.

This information came from the website lightningmaps.org, in which it was reported that 203 lightning strikes were recorded in the last 24 hours.

Footage of the lightning strikes at around 12.30AM from Nadur Gozo, appeared online.

The Maltese Islands are experiencing the September storms which bring lightning, rain, thunder and even hail.

Several locations in Southern Malta also experienced rain. Localities like Birzebbuga and Ghaxaq were most affected by this storm where at some instances there was also hail.

According to the Facebook page Maltese Islands Weather, ‘The weather will be partly to variably cloudy with isolated showers possibly heavy and thundery at times. A high of 30 C and a Force 3/4 wind from the Northwest to North.’
