During this episode of Newsbook.com.mt‘s online cultural programme ‘Take a Bow‘, Coryse Borg interviews curator Dr Anna Borg Cardona who speaks about Fondazzjoni Patrimonju Malti’s major exhibition Music in Malta – From Prehistory to Vinyl.
Dr Borg Cardona is a music historian and one of the leading authorities on local musical folklore and folkloristic instruments.
The exhibition, which will run between until the 16th June 2019 at the Mdina Cathedral Museum, covers the history of music in Malta from prehistory all the way up to the early 20th century. The exhibition is open daily from 10.00 am until 4.00 pm (late opening until 8.00 pm on Thursdays).
Through a display of musical instruments, sourced from Maltese private and public collections, the exhibition demonstrates how Malta’s traditional instruments and sounds fit into a Mediterranean context.
The public will also be able to appreciate these sounds at various music performances running until June 2019 which are being co-organised by #EngageCREATIVES.
