Today, Archbishop Charles Scicluna inaugurated the Alberto Marvelli residence, saying that hospitality has always been the way the Maltese express their humanity and their faith.

The residence is aimed towards providing struggling youths a space to stay, and a bed to sleep in. However, the Archbishop stressed that it is truly a space for everyone who needs it. He praised this initiative to provide for the common good, mentioning the ongoing roadworks. Mgr Scicluna said that freshly paved roads are indicative of this turn towards the common good, since roads are used by everyone.

A mentoring service will be available, in order to help youths regain their footing.

The residence was inaugurated in the presence of the Minister for Families, Children’s Rights and Social Solidarity, Michael Falzon. On his end, he stated that no one ought to be left behind in a society. The Government will be allocating €70,000 towards this project, over a period of three years.

The residence is located in Paola and will be managed by the National Federation of Past Pupils and Friends of Don Bosco, the Maltese Association of the Order of Malta, and the Osanna Pia Home.
