The Leader of Partit Nazzjonalista Adrian Delia stated that government is controlling information. Delia was referring to the Leader of Partit Laburista Joseph Muscat’s rejection to an on-air debate during the television programme Xarabank this evening.
During a short news conference, the Leader of the Opposition said that the public is being withheld information, as Government is controlling what is being aired on the national television station. Delia himself and Muscat were invited to participate in a debate during the programme Xarabank, Delia said. Delia added that whilst he accepted the invitation, Muscat rejected the offer for strategic purposes.
The Leader of PN described that through this action, the public is being denied the opportunity to listen and follow a debate between the Party leaders. Delia reminded that it was in fact Muscat himself who stated that the election is between Delia and himself. Delia believes that this is pecking at democracy.
Government had also adjourned Parliament towards the elections without being agreed upon by the Opposition, stated Delia. “We had already fixed a number of sessions where we were going to discuss embryo protection”, concluded Delia.
