Watch: Giving our environment a voice

Two of the aspiring local reporters taking part in the Young Reporters for the Environment competition this year tackle environmental issues through video and photography.

S.O.S – Save Our Seas A lifeguard’s ring on a beach reminds of measures taken to protect human lives. But are we using the same yard stick to safeguard our seas?

Soil is an essential resource to which many do not give much thought. It can take thousands of years to form and is fundamental, directly and indirectly, to several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Unfortunately, in our country, it is increasingly under threat.

As part of the Young Reporters for the Environment (YRE) competition 2020, Students Marie Therese Pavia and Aidan Gauci from Ġ.F Abela Junior College created a video which investigates issues related to local soil so as to raise awareness and knowledge about this vital natural resource.

YRE gives young people aged 11 to 25 a platform to research environmental issues and promote solutions through investigative reporting, photography and video journalism.
