Gozitan Maria Farrugia, who is 19years old, was a participant on the Ultimate Goal sports programme on the English station BTSport 3 on Tuesday night.
Farrugia, who was one of the first graduates of the National Sports School, has already made five senior appearances for the Malta women’s team. She made her senior debut for Sunderland AFC Ladies in the UK Northern Premier Division in February.
On Twitter, former Head of the National Sport School George Micallef said he was very proud of Farrugia, saying the sky is the limit for this talented young player.
Farrugia was chosen to participate in the television programme last summer, together with 31 female footballers from all over Europe. Through this programme they will be undergoing training and talking about their personal experiences while agents and people from the sports field will be screening each participant with the possibility of gaining opportunities in the field of football.
Also currently making waves abroad in football are Hayley Bugeja who plays for Sassuolo in Italy and Nicole Sciberras who plays for the Italian team Juventus Primavera.
