The flamingo rescued by Civil Protection officials last night lost its life soon after the rescue mission.
A BirdLife spokesperson confirmed with Newsbook.com.mt that the flamingo suffered severe injuries and lost of blood. When the BirdLife volunteers took the flamingo to a veterinarian, she said it could not be saved.
The Civil Protection Department managed to save a flamingo that got itself trapped in an electricity cable near Popeye’s Village on Saturday.
Enemalta was also called to switch off the electrical current as the bird was trapped in wires transmitting 33KV.
BirdLife Malta was trusted with the flamingo.
