144 individuals participated in the first Comino Swim-Run organised by Xterra Malta in collaboration with Malta Airport Foundation on Saturday.
The Malta Airport Foundation communicated that the participants were teamed in groups of two and had to swim for 2 kms around the island and then had to run a stretch of 8kms. The participants were not stopped by the harsh weather conditions on the day and managed to succeed in their endeavour.
Kevin Muscat and his teammate Michael Bongailas placed first finishing with a time of 43 minutes and 9 seconds and presented with a trophy. Money collected during the event will go towards the funding of the Malta Special Olympics team.
Race Director Nathan Farrugia expressed his satisfaction following the success of the event which is promoting the natural heritage, travel and sport.
In the coming weeks a documentary on underwater heritage will be launched aiming to create awareness of Comino’s natural heritage and the respect that it deserves by mankind
