Health Minister Chris Fearne said that there were enough doctors at Gozo General Hospital.
Fearne said that he always remembered Maltese doctors offering their services at Gozo General Hospital saying that some worked there full-time while others were there short-term. The Health Minister dispelled reports that appeared in the media claiming that the Hospital was suffering from a shortage of doctors.
Fearne expressed the Government’s wish to increase the number of full-time consultants in Gozo. An interview process was ongoing following a call for applications for seven new consultants.
Fearne refused to answer directly whether there was a shortage in consultants working at the Gozo General Hospital, saying that the number of consultants is expected to increase in the coming days.
He added that new and better services would be on offer.
