What exactly does a service dog do?
Newsbook.com.mt spoke to Service Dogs Malta Foundation’s founder Joseph Stafrace, who explained that a service dog is the key to independence for many people. Among others, they assist people with a hearing impairment, people on the autistic spectrum, people with diabetes and people who have mobility issues. They also do pet therapy.
The dogs are given free-of-charge to those who need them. Each dog costs them around €15,000 to train.
