€123 million were invested in Malta’s road infrastructure in the past year. This translates into more than 85 completed roads in these past 8 months. This is a fraction of the €700 million poured into bettering Malta’s roads.

The Minister for Infrastructure Ian Borg said this while on a visit to the Buqana Road project.

He also mentioned Infrastructure Malta’s €1 million investment in order to have 6,700 trees planted in both open spaces and along arterial routes.

Minister Borg also spoke about the work being done to facilitate the use of alternative means of transport. He mentioned the segregated walking and cycling tracks in Taċ-Ċawsli, Qormi Road and St. Thomas Road Luqa. Furthermore, pedestrian and cycling facilities have just been introduced in Luqa Road in Santa Luċija.

“Our vision for infrastructure and transport is truly wide and that is why we are implementing a blend of solutions. Investing in our roads means investing in our people’s serenity,” concluded Minister Ian Borg.
