A restaurant in Marsalforn Gozo, closed its doors yesterday after facing an onslaught of rubble from on-going construction happening next door.
Speaking to the Times of Malta, the owner of the Il-Kartell restaurant, Diane Falzon, said, ‘We could not put people at risk as there were stones falling down onto the roof and the parapet,’
According to video footage from Falzon, workers on the construction site were seen taking away slabs which resulted in debris falling to the street below.
Although the police were called to the scene, it is understood that it would take a court action to stop the work.
Co-owner of the restaurant, Martin Mercieca said that he had referred the story to the health and safety authorities.
He reportedly said that, ‘It seems incredible that I lose a day of business because of this,’
