Tista' taqra bil- Malti.
Christmas is not just about presents, Partit Nazzjonalista leader Adrian Delia said on Tuesday in a video message.
Whilst wishing everyone a merry Christmas, the Opposition Leader reminded that Christmas is a time to reminisce the gifts the Three Kings gave to Jesus. He explained that this time, is a time when one exchanges gifts. However, he urged that during this time one should seek those who have no one to spend Christmas with, and gift them with time, a shoulder and solace. He mentioned that such individuals would be those experiencing loneliness, the elderly, and those who do not have a family.
‘Find out who they are and reach out to them this Christmas,’ Delia urged.
Delia also spoke about poverty, saying that this problem was not limited to Malta. He added that poverty is not limited to material deprivation, but extends also to individuals experiencing loneliness. ‘We have a duty towards those people who have no one to spend their Christmas with,’ Delia stated.
The Opposition Leader also said that Christmas brings hope to those who are currently passing through difficult moments in their lives. ‘Many are passing through such a situation,’ Delia explained, adding that ‘we need to do all that we can to help them out.’
“Hope is what gets one through the days,” Delia said.
He ended his message by saying that he wishes to see the nation seeking that which unites them during this period.
Delia wished a happy Christmas to all those living in Malta.
