Watch: Celebrating the work by the public service sector during coronavirus

From frontline healthcare workers and public health officials to teachers, sanitation workers, social welfare officers and more, the public servant has been thrust into the spotlight, helping elevate awareness and understanding of the critical role public servants play in everyday life, and in particular during times of severe crises, such as the COVID-19 pandemic.

To celebrate United Nations Public Service Day, which is held on the 23rd June every year, the government has issued a video which gives an account of the work carried out by the Malta Public Service sector during the coronavirus outbreak.

The video features services in the medical field, police force, LESA (Local Enforcement System Agency), Civil Protection Department, Malta Enterprise, helplines, Clean Malta, Malta Tourism Authority and the Covid bullettin.

The UN Public Service Day was designated by the United Nations General Assembly in 2003, to “celebrate the value and virtue of public service to the community”.
