Kodi Lee is the winner of this year’s edition of the reality show which has taken the television world storm since its debut 14 years ago.
The honey-voiced pianist and singer stole the hearts of audience members and the judges, with singer Gabrielle Union awarding him the Golden Buzzer. His performance earned a standing ovation from the audience and a guaranteed spot in the semi-finals.
This is the first time a person with a disability has won the show.
Lee was not the only disabled performer honored in the finals. Comedian Ryan Niemiller, who declares himself the ‘Cripple Threat of Comedy’, came in third. In second place was the Detroit Youth Choir.
