Artist Benny Grima spoke to Newsbook.com.mt about his performances as a busker in Valletta.
Grima told this newsroom that he’d rather busk on the streets of Valletta to singing in hotels, explaining that he learnt other languages this way. He then explained that he knew songs in Chinese, Polish and Hindi.
Grima was born on 8 March 1954 at Naxxar and is married to Tonia, together the pair form a duo. The duo was formed in 1985 and they’re still performing together as a duo. Their best known song is Forza Malta. Benny comes from a family of musicians and he himself started playing the guitar when he was thirteen. He formed his first band, Harmonic Sound, in 1974. The band changed its name to The rookies and released its first single Hija in 1977.
