Walk-through temperature scanners for schools?

Tista' taqra bil- Malti.

Luqa-based science company Evolve Ltd is urging Malta’s schools to install walk-through temperature scanning gates to reduce the risk of Covid-19 as they get ready for the start of the new term.

It said walk-through temperature scanners, temperature measuring gates and disinfection units can be installed at the entrance of a school or campus, and look similar to walk-through metal detectors seen in airports and court buildings.

Evolve managing director Christopher Busuttil Delbridge stated that “In the conversations that I’ve had, in the event that schools have to take each student’s temperature when they walk into the playground, you could be looking at having 700 kids at each school manually tested every day for months.”

He added that the walk-through scanners should be able to scan students at a rate of 60 per minute.

Do you agree with the use of these scanners?
