The vouchers launched by the government earlier this year have been crucial in keeping many outlets open in the last few weeks, the Association of Catering Establishments said on Saturday.
The association said that the majority of sales have been through the vouchers. Though it emphasised that the sector still faced difficulties due to increased costs related to Covid-19 measures, reduced sales and fear, it expressed gratitude to the government for creating the vouchers.
ACE encouraged the government to open discussions on other measures which would help the sector prepare for difficult months ahead. It said that the experience of vouchers and wage supplements should help create even more positive stimuli for local and tourist consumption.
The association also recommended the acceleration of the implementation of rent and utility schemes.
