Volunteer for an inclusive future

The Gozo NGOs Association will be organising a number of activities on the occasion of International Volunteer Day (IVD).

On the occasion of International Volunteer Day (IVD), which falls today 5th December, the Gozo NGOs Association will be organising  a number of activities in order to bring to the fore this year’s International Volunteer Day ‘inclusivity’ related theme.

This year’s #IVD2019 theme ‘Volunteer for an inclusive future’, highlights the pursuit of equality – including inclusion – through volunteerism.

According to the NGO: “Volunteering provides opportunities for people, particularly those often excluded, to concretely impact their own lives and play a constructive role in their communities by volunteering their time and skills. Through volunteerism, communities around the world often experience strengthened solidarity and inclusion”.

The UN mandated International Volunteer Day (IVD), serves an opportunity to promote volunteerism, encourage governments to support volunteer efforts and recognize volunteer contributions to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at local, national and international levels.

The Gozo NGOs Association programme of activities will start on Thursday 5th and run up to the 31st December with an Open Day at the Association’s office located within the Gozo NGO Centre, ir-Triq ir-Rummiena, Xewkija.

Officials of VOs/NGOs active in Gozo are invited to drop by at the NGOs Centre, during the day to meet Gozo NGOs Association who will be in attendance at the NGO Centre from 10.00 am to 1.00 pm and from 4.00 pm to 8.00 pm.

Gozo NGOs Association officials will be offering their time to hear ideas and listen to suggestions of how, as an association, it can attune its services to meet the needs of its members and other VOs in general, but especially those organisations  active in  the inclusivity challenges sector.
