The report on the reduction of car emissions forwarded by Labour MEP Miriam Dalli has been given the seal of approval by the Environmental Committee. The European Parliament is expected to take a vote on the report during the plenary session in October.
The MEPs have approved a reduction of 20% on current emissions from motor vehicles by the year 2025 and a total reduction of 45% by the year 2030. Miriam Dalli told Newsbook.com.mt that these are feasible figures. She also referred to studies that show how a higher demand for low emission cars, will decrease the current price of the eco-friendly vehicles, resulting in less air pollution.
The report received 38 favourable votes, 24 rejections and 7 abstentions.
