AFM has told Newsbook.com.mt that those rescued and brought to Malta include 8 women, one of which is pregnant. They are also joined by 61 men.
Those treated on arrival claim to be from Morocco, Bangladesh and Eritrea and say that they left the Libyan coast on Friday 28th December.
There are no other medical conditions among those rescued, according to AFM.
69 rescued asylum seekers to be brought to Malta by AFM
69 asylum seekers rescued off a wooden boat will be brought to Malta on Sunday. The Armed Forces of Malta in a short press release said that a wooden boat in distress found at 117 NM South-West of Malta was assisted by the AFM Patrol Vessel P51.
The rescued migrants are expected to arrive in Malta later on Sunday afternoon.
32 people rescued by civil search and rescue NGO Sea-Watch remain stranded at sea on Sea-Watch 3. Despite the operation having took place on Saturday 22 December, the NGO remained without a safe harbour.
