Update 2: French interior minister confirms shooter’s death

France 24 is reporting that the French Interior Minister Christophe Castaner has confirmed that the Christmas market shooter has been killed by French Anti-terror police.

Update 1: Strasbourg suspect ‘neutralised’ police sources

The Reuters news agency and a number of local media outlets in France say that the police have killed alleged Christmas market suspect, Chérif Chekatt.

The l’Obs news magazine has reported that Chekatt was traced to a warehouse in the Neudorf area of Strasbourg.

The magazine says that police shot and killed the suspect at around 9PM CEST time.

A further media outlet called France Info, citing unnamed sources states that the suspect fired on the police before being shot in return fire.

The French police had launched their anti-terror investigation operation on Tuesday.
