University of Malta postpones graduations

The University of Malta has informed graduands that this year’s graduation ceremonies have been postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The university told each graduand that with current health restrictions, it would not be possible to host the ceremonies for 3,500 students graduating this year as this would mean excluding family members and friends from attending.

Consulting with the University Students’ Council (KSU) on the matter, the majority of the students’ societies reported a preference for graduation ceremonies to be held at a later date.

All graduands will be issued with their degree or diploma scroll dated 20 November 2020.

Whilst congratulating all graduands on their achievement, University Rector, Prof Alfred J Vella, augured that the University will eventually be in a position to host the ceremonies in a special and memorable way that such an event deserves.

On Wednesday, Malta reported 84 new infections bring the number of active cases is now 1,853.
